ALAN BROMILEY
I became a member of Bolton Camera Club in 2013. It became very clear that my photos were rubbish after seeing what other members had produced for competitions. I was very despondent when my first competition entry only scored 13 and intended not to go to the club again. I am a bad loser. After a few days of cooling down, I went back to learn how others took photographs and then started to enter other competitions until my first win with Blue Morphos Butterfly. I gradually improved and got more wins and became Club Photographer of the Year in 2018 and have been near the top ever since. For the last few years I have been doing Portraits and have had lots of success at club level, interclub competitions and with magazines winning The Photography News Portrait Photographer of the Year in 2024.
