Monthly Competition Results

The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography. 

Brian Law of Macclesfield Camera Club visited the Club on 16th July 2015 to judge our competition for projected digital images. Brian explained that he was looking for something a little bit special and creative within the Club's photographs and had no intention of judging in a way which promoted mediocrity. He was concerned to ask whether the treatment chosen for the image works, and whether the subject matter is interesting. He believes in Ansel Adam's view that great photographs are made and not taken. Brian faced a large number of pictures - about 70 in total - but still managed to give guidance and tips as well as helpful critique. Some of the high scoring images are shown below.
