Monthly Competition Results

The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.

It was the 18th September 2014, and we held the final open competition amongst members for digital projected images. Our judge for the evening was George Steele from our neighbouring club - the Bury Photographic Society. George gave useful tips as well as marking our images. Topics such as composition, lighting condiotions, the use of 'levels' and the 'shadows/highlights' tool in Photoshop were covered. George explained how textures can sometimes be improved by rendering an image in black and white rather than colour.

This being the last Open DPI competition of the year, we now know our first trophy winners - Richard Towell has the best overall performance amongst the advanced workers and Ian Walker takes the top slot for the beginners. Well done to both of you!

The images below are the ones scoring 19 or 20 points on the night.
