Monthly Competition Results

The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.

Tony Duffey CPAGB judged our monthly Themed competition on Thursday 20 June 2013, on the subject of “Old and New”. After the initial run through of the 16 prints, Tony, the current President of Southport PS, admitted that all the prints fit the category and gave honest and helpful comments to each picture and scored them straight away without holding any back.

In third place on 18 points was “Light Years” by Mick Stone, described by Judge Tony as “well set up” and “it works well in monochrome”

In second place with 19 points was “A Knight in the Castle” by Paul Baybut, which Tony said was “a good set up shot” and “it was superbly taken” and is “a beautifully lit” and is an  “excellent” image.

The outright winner on 20 points was “The Old Lighting the Way for the New” by Nina Thomasson. Judge Tony loved the “minimal” effect that works very well here. He considered this to be the best picture in this competition tonight.
