Monthly Competition Results

The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.

Our Print competition went off to a flying start on Thursday 16 February 2012 with a total of 94 prints for guest judge Bill Edwards CPAGB from Baguley.

After an initial run through of the 33 prints in the Advanced Class judge Bill was presented with them again for his comments and scoring. Seven prints were held for further consideration, and the eventual winner on 20 points was “Upchers Warbler” by Adrian Drummond-Hill. Described by Bill as “ a superb image with great detail” he also said “the head was pin sharp” and “it had nothing distracting in the background.”

In second place with 19 points was “Wet Day at Buttermere” by David Hawkins. Judge Bill appreciated this image for being “nice and simple” and said it captured the mood on the day.

In third place on 18 points was “Under the Bridge Over the Quays” by Paul Baybut. Bill felt this was “a great monochrome” print and said that here the converging verticals work well, making it “a superb mono print.”

Here are the results and judges comments of the top three Advanced Class images in the Print Competition. The full statistics can be viewed by opening the attached PDF file below. Any member wanting to see all the scores should consult the competition binder on display at the Club.
