Monthly Competition Results

The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.

This Themed competition created one of our largest amount of entries with 33 members each submitting one image. Guest judge Tony Duffey CAPGB from Southport PS commented that the theme of “Shapes” was interesting as “everything has a shape.”

The winner was “Tail Curl” by Richard Towell, a new member to our club. This “lovely picture” was “well spotted,” said judge Tony. He felt “it could have been taken in the wild or in a pet shop, but it did not matter” as it is an “interesting” and “superb image of a perfect spiral.”

Second place went to “Love Money” by Peter Clark, which Tony said “was well set up and thought out.” Tony appreciated the amount of time and effort that had been spent on this image.

Third place was “Galaxy” by Jeff Griffiths, another image Tony felt had taken a lot of time and trouble to produce. He said it “works very well” and has “good colours” and was “a lovely abstract image.”

Here are the results and judges comments of the Themed Images in the Projected Competition. The full statistics can be viewed by opening the attached PDF file below. Any member wanting to know all the scores can see them in the Competition binder on display at the club.
