Monthly Competition Results

The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.

It has come to the attention of the Camera Club committee that prints were handed in for an external competition but found their way by mistake into the internal April monthly competition.
One was a print called "Tiger Clough" and the other a print in the themed portrait competition called "Evie". Both were judged into 2nd place in their respective category, but both had been entered and placed in a previous monthly competition.
After due deliberation it was decided that under current club rules an image cannot be entered in another monthly competition once it has been placed in the top three, so they both will be scratched form the April competition. As a result the 3rd placed image in both the advanced and the themed categories should be promoted to 2nd, and the next highest scoring image be promoted to 3rd place.
In the advanced print section Mike Margiotta's print of "Leon Haslam, BSB Bike" was 3rd and now becomes 2nd place. There were 3 other images scoring 19 points, but only one was "held" by the judge and placed in 4th place. This image, "Glacier" by John Bradshaw, will therefore become 3rd place.
In the portrait section, Frank Green's "The Lady Wore Red" was 3rd and now becomes 2nd place. Two other images scored 18 points but there is nothing to choose between them. There can only be one 3rd placed image so it was deemed to be fair not to have a 3rd place this time for the themed section.
This oversight and outcome was put to the club meeting on 29th April 2010 and those present ageed the decisions to be fair and just.
Steps have been taken to ensure this error does not happen in future competitions.

So, here are the amended results of the theme 'portraits' in the April 2010 print competition.
